Note: As of February 2012 Café Stunden sadly closed their doors as a raw food establishment. However the owners opened a lunch venue at Tangopalatset in Malmö in July 2012.
Café Stunden located in Malmö (the third largest city in Sweden in the most southern part) just celebrated their first anniversary in February 2011. As a matter of fact on Valentines’ Day!
Not only the first raw food café, furthermore they are also the first 100% organic café and restaurant in all of Sweden. All foods that they offer are 100% organically grown. This goes for all the spices, oils to all of their various produce. Quite impressive, I must say.
Raw food by night
Café Stunden started out serving raw food breakfasts and lunches. It became quite popular and was voted third best café in the whole city. Around the time for their anniversary, Betty and Perica, the couple behind this venture, felt that Malmö was ready for raw food by night. The decision was made to expand their business to serving not only healthy, delicious raw food lunch, but dinner as well. Consequently that meant skipping breakfast.
But don’t you worry
Their popular breakfast dish “fruit and nut mush” is still served all day long!
Inviting decor
After revamping the website, logo and interior, Café Stunden now offers wonderful raw food dishes for both lunch and dinner in a bright contemporary setting. Though Café Stunden is modest in size, it exudes a very warm and cozy atmosphere.
The food!
Choose between raw burger, pizza and pasta and various salad plates like Taco and Thai (Thai pictured on the left). Chef Perica’s wonderful raw cakes, tortes, pies and chocolate treats just melt in your mouth. So do not skip dessert! Regarding the Energy Boosters you can opt not only between red or green smoothies, you can even get a wheatgrass shot!
Catering and coaching
Furthermore Café Stunden offers both take out and catering. They just had the honor to cater Sweden’s first raw wedding cake. Being devoted to raw foods, Betty also coaches people and offers professional detox/health programs.
Take a moment to relax
“Stunden” meaning “the moment “ in Swedish stands for taking a moment just for yourself, to relax and to eat the best foods you can get. Their slogan is – – which translates to “We change the world one meal a day”.
