Some people might find pineapple too sweet, but when adding pleasantly bitter Tahini and green spirulina you get a great combination.
Pineapple is not merely sweet, but also sour and cooling. It contains bromelain a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Bromelain moreover has chemicals that might interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow blood clotting, according to laboratory research.
Furthermore pineapple promotes bone density, cools the blood, helps skin retain youthfulness, and speeds healing after injury. See tip below.
Pineapple Spirulina Smoothie
2 servings (2½ cups)
½ pineapple (approximately 2 cups blended)
1 tablespoon raw Tahini
1 teaspoon spirulina
2 large handfuls of spinach leaves (or other greens)
Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
Tip: Left-over smoothie mixed with water makes for a great work-out drink. It is fruity, tangy, and green, and even got some protein in there too!
Note – pineapple cools blood and speeds healing after injury!
