Since I wrote this post (2011) Lisa has left the Green Wave Café and Raoul now runs it on his own. He has opened up a place next door which houses a farmers market on Mondays and Tuesdays and also a culinary school. (May 2013)
The place to go for raw foods in Fort Lauderdale!
Green Wave Cafe opened their doors to the public little over two years ago. They started out as a lunch cafe and have now evolved to serving raw food dinners as well. Chef Lisa Valle, a graduate from the famous Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, Fort Bragg, California and Raoul Valle, a Health Educator from the well renowned Hippocrates Health Institute, West Palm Beach, Florida are the founders and owners of Green Wave Cafe.
All their items are homemade on the premises, daily – all vegan and organic! This means no refined sugar, gluten free and of course, dairy and animal free.
Some of their signature dishes and also most popular items include the Vegan Cheese Burger, and the Onion Bread and Hummus Sandwich. Other bestsellers are the Super Nachos and the “No Moo” ice cream. Brownies with a scoop of “No Moo” ice cream is another hit!
Besides their regular menu, there is usually a special they carry for a week – could be Spinach Lasagna, Manicotti Florentine, Spinach-Mushroom Quiche or the Mediterranean Platter with Hummus, Falafel, and Greek Salad etc. Look for “Special Deals” like “Order an entree and get dessert at half price” or “2 for $30.00” – where you get 2 teas, 2 entrees with either soup or salad, and 2 ice creams!
In addition to serving scrumptious foods, chef Lisa Valle together with her husband Raoul (who gives lectures on the remarkable positive effects raw foods can have on your life), is running a raw food school teaching food preparation, and issue chef certificates to graduates. She has arranged evenings with speakers such as Brian Clement (Hippocrates), Cherie Soria (Living Light Culinary Arts Institute) and Jenna Norwood (raw food documentary film Supercharge Me).
On Mondays they have an indoor Farmers Market selling organically grown produce. The market is open between 8AM-2PM, when the Cafe is closed. You can find some raw supplies too like chocolate, seasonings, supplements and hard-to-find raw Nori sheets and Kelp noodles.
Green Wave Cafe offers take out from their menu. If you order well ahead they can even have a bottle of almond milk or a raw salad dressing ready for you.
We are certainly lucky to have a restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale area, serving such delicious, healthy, organic raw foods with flavors and tastes from around the world! Way to go Lisa!
So why not stop by for a delectable raw food dish or order take out and pick up some of their delicious items as well, such as onion bread, crackers and granola, or chocolates and pies!
Tell them Åsa or On the Lime sent you and you’ll get a 10% discount! Wow!
