A lonely grapefruit (staring at me every time I opened the fridge) and some left-over Swiss chard made an unlikely pair.
But with the help of an avocado and coconut oil to soften and a peach to sweeten it, I ended up with a delightfully creamy, a bit tangy, but refreshing bowl/pudding!
Ingredients
1 grapefruit, peeled, in chunks
1 large handful chard (or other greens you have on hand) leave out the large stalks, save them for juicing
½ – 1 small avocado, scoop out the meat
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 ripe peach, in chunks (or banana)
Place in a blender and mix until creamy. Pour into serving bowl and decorate with berries, fresh or dried like gojis, mulberries etc. I used pomegranate seeds on mine.
Grapefruits
are great fruits to include in a cleanse, because of their high levels of Vitamin C and antioxidants, and also bioflavonoids and rutin which is supposed to repair cells. Grapefruit will also aid in the removal or dissolving of inorganic calcium that may have formed in joints. Furthermore grapefruits will help to break down fat that can deposit in the body called cellulite.
Swiss chard
By the way did you know that chard is also known by these names: spinach beet and leaf beet?
