Those sweet luscious cherries are finally here!
You could probably eat handfuls of them, right?
And how about a delicious cherry smoothie or cherry pie (raw of course!) – YUM!
The little messy pits
But then there is just the tiny issue and hassle with those pits. Cherries are not especially hard to pit, but time-consuming AND messy with stains all over the place, at least in my kitchen!
Here comes a handy little helper
– the cherry pitter!
Have you seen one before?
It pits up to 4 cherries in one motion.
It catches pits and juice in a base
– left are just the pitted berries on a tray.
The tray is removed from the base for easy cleaning.
Caution
Some cherries might remain un-pitted or partially un-pitted. Please always double check the cherries, especially before giving to a young child.
Where to get it?
Many kitchen specialty supply stores carry this pitter along with other styles. It can also be ordered through various online retailers. The price range: $9.00 – $15.00.
Enjoy cherry season
And eat them by the handfuls – both Bing and Rainier cherries!
I know I will!

Had to try these they looked so cute.First, the chreeies I used a large pastry tip to take out the pit and it worked like a charm. Keeping the stems on took a little work, but I did a few anyway. After a few tries and red fingers, I think it worked best by making a large X on the bottom of the cherry and splitting it so you can take out the seed hence, the red fingers because you have to kind of pry the pit out. It is easier working with softer cherries.Second, I ended up with 36 mini muffins maybe your mini muffin pan is bigger than mine? Anyway, that was a nice surprise because I could share more!I did add 1 tsp of almond extract and just 1 tsp of vanilla extract love that almond flavor.Everyone loved them!! Thanks.
